More Makaha Photos and Information

Sit on the lanai of Apartment #409 and watch the action at the surfing area of Makaha Beach . In the winter, waves routinely reach heights of six feet or more. Yet, because of the unique topography of the ocean floor and shoreline, the water is almost always smooth enough for swimming, snorkeling and diving just a few yards beyond the surf zone. Tidal pools behind the building offer a calm area most days for small children and shell collectors to enjoy.

The top photo on the previous page shows the view from Apartment # 409 . All apartments offer ring-side views of the beach and ocean, with Makaha Valley in the background. At night, stars sparkle in the dark sky.

Makaha Shores is an L-shaped building situated in such a way that all units enjoy a direct ocean view. There is even a limited ocean view from the upper level of the parking garage! A ramp from the middle level of the garage makes it easy for handicapped persons, luggage on wheels and grocery carts to reach the elevator easily.

Imagine yourself grilling fresh Island fish while enjoying the fragrance of plumeria flowers! The barbecue area is surrounded by plumeria trees of every color. Round out your menu with a crisp salad and enjoy the feast at the nearby picnic table or on your private lanai, watching the ocean.

One thing Makaha doesn't have is crowds. Even on holidays or during surf meets, Makaha Beach isn't really crowded. When the surf is just right, there may be more people in the water than on the sand. On an average day, perhaps twenty-five people can be seen on the entire beach. We are, indeed, far from the madding crowd. If you are dreaming of a beautiful beach where you see more sand than flesh, Makaha Beach is the place for you!
